How to Recession-Proof Your Business
The news here in the States, and world-wide, is of
looming tough economic times. The President blames
Congress, the Congress blames the White House, and
everyone wants either higher or lower taxes to
stimulate the financial world. Like picking a
winning team in the Super Bowl, I have some ideas
about the right choice, but they’re probably as
wrong and half-baked as anyone else’s.
A
recession hits everyone, regardless of income level.
Business slows down as we consumers become more
picky about how to spend our hard-earned dollars.
That puts pressure on all of us to make our product
or service more attractive in a highly competitive
landscape. “Great service”, “Free coffee” and “All
calls answered within 24 hours” just won’t cut it
anymore.
Recession-proof your business by understanding what
makes you truly unique. If the old “pitch” isn’t
working the way it used to, learn to relate to
prospects and customers in a new way. Once I began
telling the stories about the difference my coaching
and speaking make for clients, business began to
soar! What about your stories? Here are some ideas:
-
Did you change someone’s life because of your
expertise? How?
-
What did you learn about respect, money or
business yesterday or a decade ago that your
customers should know?
-
How do you stay focused on your customer’s
needs? How does that single-mindedness create
spectacular results?
In next week’s newsletter, I’ll feature the story
about the power of a single voice, and how your
stories can change a life.
